Pack smarter, move easier

Following these guidelines will help protect your belongings and ensure a smooth pickup, storage, and delivery experience.

box packing basics

Don't Overpack Boxes

Boxes should be pack securely but not overloaded.

Recommended maximum weights:

• Small Box: Up to 30lbs
• Medium Box: Up to 40lbs
• Large Box: Up to 50lbs

Heavy boxes are more likely to tear, break, or become difficult to move safely.

pack heavy items first

Place heavier items at the bottom of the box:

• Books
• Shoes
• Small Appliances
• Kitchen Items

Lighter items should always be packed on top.

fill empty space

Items should not move around inside the box.

Use:

• Towels
• Sweatshirts
• Blankets
• Clothing

to fill any empty space and provide additional protection.

sealing your boxes

Before pickup, every box should be properly sealed.

Bottom of Box

Apply:

• One strip of tape down the center seam
• Two strips across the ends

For heavier boxes, use additional tape as needed.

label every box

Clearly label every box with:

Room (if needed)

Examples:

• Bedroom
• Kitchen
• Bathroom
• Living Room

General Contents

Examples:

• Clothing
• Decor
• School Supplies
• Bedding

Avoid listing expensive items on the outside of boxes.

Before packing electronics:

• Backup important files
• Remove batteries when possible
• Secure cords and accessories together
• Use original packaging when available

Laptops, tablets, and valuable electronics should be transported with care.

clothing & bedding

Clothing may be packed in:

• Moving boxes
• Suitcases
• Duffel Bags
• Wardrobe boxes

Store all clothing and bedding clean and completely dry.

fragile items

Fragile items should be individually protected.

Examples:

• Glass
• Lamps
• Decorative items
• Monitors
• Small electronics

Use clothing, towels, or other soft materials as cushioning when needed.

Please do not pack:

• Perishable food
• Open Liquids
• Aerosol cans
• Flammable materials
• Hazardous chemicals
• Fireworks
• Illegal items

Before your scheduled pickup:

• All boxes sealed
• All boxes labeled
• Fragile items protected
• Electronics secured
• Loose items packed
• Personal essentials removed
• Vehicle keys available (if storing a vehicle)
